Voices from Sacred Space

Many years ago now I wrote the book “Walking with God” to answer the faith questions that those connected with the Sacred Space outreach were asking me about God.

This book has been invaluable to those who have read it whilst on their journey of getting to know God. Each week we continue to support those who battle with addictions and those who are well on their way in recovery. We are pray for them, meeting up to listen and nudge them on a little bit nearer into recovering or helping them to find people who can help them where we can’t.

Some of those whom I meet with have had to sadly pass through many traumatic times. Where there has been great suffering I have watched over the years a process of healing take place. There is always hope of recovery for everyone and it is never too late for someone to “I am ready, where do I begin ?” This is a really precious ministry which I know is close to God’s heart.

I am so thankful and grateful to those who have helped us over the years in so many ways. We have asked a three people who we meet up with to share a few thoughts on what benefit it makes to them. I think what they have shared speaks quite loudly.

“Being able to have regular meet ups and do normal things has helped to bring a level of stability to my sometimes, chaotic life.

Being a survivor of many abusive situations, I have often felt overlooked and unseen but I have always felt listened to and practically helped over many years by the support, kindness and genuine love of this ministry. I give thanks to God for people like them being in my life.” Ruth

“Change is hard- people judge if my relationship with faith, my relationship with Jesus doesn’t look like theirs- but so what? He can be there in the messy stuff and the not so nice places too. I think He uses all our experiences in life to allow us to be real, be who we are and learn more about myself as I learn more about him. Thank goodness He’s patient with me each time I go the hard way, often making decisions from a place of trauma. I’m glad Jesus is part of my journey- the best thing is He gets me- and He’s no quitter.” Sarah

“This ministry has been a great help to me. When I first met Alison, I was in a real state and quite hopeless. Both her and her husband have helped me through the last ten years of addiction as I have battled on and off with being a chronic alcoholic. I can honestly say I may not be here today if it was not for the consistent support and care shown to myself and my family.

They have practically supported me by encouraging me to be involved in helping others and facilitating that as well as emotionally been able to walk me through the problems I have faced. This level of support has made me feel wanted when sometimes I feel that no notices me or has any understanding of the battle.

Alison has really helped me to see how God can help when I don’t feel I can go on another day. She always puts a Christian spin on recovery which has saved my life over the years. I am always encouraged to keep walking with God no matter what happens for which I am very thankful.” Pete

When any of us make any change we have to do the work ourselves. With those we are journeying with right now through this outreach it is they themselves who are doing the real work our role is to stand with them, encouraging them and being praying over their lives as it makes a huge difference when grappling with lifestyle transformation.

Thank you to those of you who partner with us.
