The Gift of a Book - Streetlife

Walking prayerfully has so many benefits. In one area we have been doing this for nearly two years and made lots friends who we see on a regular basis. We may have a word of prayer with them, offer a listening ear and have a laugh together to brighten the day.

What happens over time is the regular people we meet are with different friends who introduce us to them. A few weeks ago this very thing happened. We met a new young woman through a man we support on a regular basis. Immediately she began to open up to me about her inner battles intensely and asked if I believed in prayer ? Turns out she had tried Church for a while in the past and became disappointed.

As I listened to her I felt to offer her one of our little books to read. The books we use always have stories of faith and contain prayers for people to pray other times we give away Bibles and find many say “yes please” when we offer them. We spoke on about the inner struggles she was battling and how prayer can be a journey to bring peace to those inner struggles. I encouraged her to keep in touch and maybe rethink about faith again. We had a little pray together and then she went back to her friends. It is such a joy to be available at the right time and in the right place for the ones that God brings across our path.

Never be ashamed to offer a prayer or give a book away - it really could be life changing for someone.

Thank you to those of you who help us to go and be available.
