More Than A Preach

Over the last few months we’ve had an incredible time with lots of conversations praying with people and generally having a presence on the streets when doing outreach.

As we walk about we meet people and sometimes it’s so much more than a preach it’s more about having a word of kindness, a smile to lift a heart, giving away an encouraging book or a piece of teaching. It’s that point of connection that can make all the difference for people.

A few weeks ago we noticed somebody had fallen over in the street and a whole bunch of people around her. We went back later to see how she was. There was one person left with her waiting for an ambulance that could be arriving up to five hours later - in the meantime it was is one of the hottest days of the year. I felt to go and buy some jelly babies, sun lotion and an umbrella to keep the shade. You see, I did this because it’s more than a preach when we are sharing the love of God in practical ways where people can feel the love and not just have the theory. It is having a presence, His presence and doing what needs to be done at the time.

Another time I noticed a woman sat down and I said, “Hi” as we were passing by. With that she asked me “have you got any food?” I didn’t, nevertheless I went immediately and brought her some food. The smile that beamed across her face was incredible. A random act of kindness made a small difference in that moment. I didn’t pray with her but only gave her what she asked me for as it’s not always a preach.

So when you’re out and about I encourage you think about how it’s more than a preach and take a moment to be kind, to bring a smile, to bring the presence of God and his kingdom to the streets - make his love practical where we can is always a great step in the right direction.

Over the last few months I have felt a little pull to visit a couple of different places to see how the land lies. Over this next few weeks a feel a plan forming to go beyond where we have been and head to these new places and see who God brings to us. Pray for us as we get ready in ourselves to go. We can’t get stuck as many are crying out to God and looking for Him and God will send people like you and I to be a point of connection for Himself.

Thank you to those of you who give generously to make this outreach possible.
