A Token of Love

Last month Pastor John found this elderly lady struggling to survive in a house that was not fit for purpose. He was visiting a rural location near the border of Rwanda that you have to cross by boat to get to.

When he sent us the video of what she was living in and we felt that we could do something to help her have a home that is safe secure and healthy to live in. We said yes, let’s do it - lets plan to renovate before the rainy season come’s. Our fear was that heavy rains would have washed what was left away, leaving her completely homeless and on her own.

At the same time we sadly lost a friend in our church, Eddie. His wife and family kindly requested that any giving in memory of Eddie would be given to Mission On The Move. We felt it would be appropriate to do something significant and that the gifts that came could be designated for the elderly lady’s home to be rebuilt. To my amazement the gifts covered the renovations and some more, this has enabled us to provide a mattress to sleep on rather than the rags on the floor that she had been using at night.

This house has been renovated in memory of Eddie Smith who faithfully served at our church for many many years, we know that the elderly lady is so grateful because of that kindness - it’s a gift of immense value for her and indeed a token of love. You can watch the story of the rebuild here.

We are so pleased to be able to do these things. We are very thankful that God uses Mission On The Move to do his work and to those who generously gave.
