Restore Day

When Mission on the Move was an idea in the back of my mind, I felt God speak to me about what would underpin the ministry. These verses were imprinted into my heart from the book of Isaiah 58, to be a well watered garden. In fact they have formed some of our values as we go forward.

“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11

Whilst we can believe that these things will just happen as we go, it is good to create time and space set aside to be strengthened and to hear the heart of God, by devoting that time to Him. I felt it was time after nine months since we began to set aside some time for that and to invite others to do the same.

We had fifteen of us including ourselves. We invited our long standing friends in the world of mission Rod and Michelle Smith to lead the sessions. It was a great day of friendship, hearing from the heart of God with space for reflection. Even though this wasn’t a silent day, many felt they had space to sit back from the normal day-to-day business. Some who came are involved in various degrees of ministy and mission and they really appreciated the space we created. One of the people who came writes….

“The Restore day took me back to an essential part of my walk with my father, to the place of meditation. I was so grateful for the opportunity to spend time in a calming atmosphere listening to the heart of the Trinity.”

Richard and I loved holding this day as part of the ministry of Mission on the Move. It is our vision to facilitate a space where people can come and be restored. Being re-envisioned for the next piece of time through hearing the heart of God.

Thanks to those who came and shared this day with us. We do plan to do more Restore days as part of our mission. We look forward to see what God will do through us all in the world of mission by creating the space and time to sit back and listen.
